Celebrating 10 Years of the BoatShop

Come Float the Boat(Shop) and Help the Gig Harbor BoatShop Celebrate its 10th Anniversary

Saturday, Oct. 13, 5 p.m. at The Club @ the Boatyard

The Gig Harbor BoatShop, inspired by maritime traditions past and present, is celebrating its 10th anniversary at its historic location, and the public is invited to the party.

Gig Harbor BoatShop is located at 3805 Harborview Drive in the historic Eddon Boatyard on Gig Harbor’s working waterfront. Ed Hoppen and Don Harder founded the “Ed-Don” Boat Company in 1946. Then in 1950 they moved to the current site, once home to the historic Conrad Anderson Boatyard.

Join us as we Float the Boat(Shop) and commemorate Gig Harbor BoatShop’s 10-year anniversary with a festive evening of dinner, drinks and dancing — along with storytelling, giving, and toasting 10 years.

A decade ago, the BoatShop was founded after a true community grassroots effort saved the historic Eddon Boatyard from demolition. Since then, we’ve opened our doors to the public and engaged thousands of people with Gig Harbor’s working waterfront.

The work we do is only possible because of you: our neighbors, friends, and community members. It’s only fitting that you join us as we celebrate 10 years of providing public benefit and look forward toward the next 10 years.

Eddon Boatyard in Gig Harbor is the birthplace of the Thunderbird Sailboat. Today, the BoatShop’s mission is to perpetuate working waterfront skills, uses and traditions by engaging in essential activities of a boatyard, such as boat building and repair, vessel restoration and community launching events. The BoatShop hosts working, hands-on activities such as the Family Boat Building program, Boat Livery Service and the Community Boat Restoration program.

The Float the Boat(Shop) celebration begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Club @ Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard, 3117 Harborview Drive in Gig Harbor.
