The charter boat Riviera is ready for holiday season cruises after a stop at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard.
Riviera, operated by Tom Drohan of the popular Destiny Harbor Tours, had a couple of soft spots on her overhead deck that needed attention, and soon she’ll resume her Puget Sound sightseeing tours.
The Gig Harbor party boat came to the right place when her skipper wanted those worrisome soft spots on her fly bridge checked out. The open air promenade up-top is a popular place for passengers to take in stunning views of Mt. Rainier and picturesque Puget Sound during cruises. The crew at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard got busy right away diagnosing and repairing the problem area.
Sightseeing Boat Ready for Sound Tours after Overhead Deck Repair
Shipwright John Iverson and fiberglass laminator Carl Conner discovered wood rot was causing the soft places on the fly bridge. So they removed all the compromised wood and constructed new decking and framing on the overhead promenade. Conner fiberglassed over the new wood framework to create a solid new decking.
Boatyard Service Manager Chris Hawke had high praise for the two craftsmen.
“Carl has a work ethic that is incredible,” he said. “He used to be a home builder, fussy and meticulous about the details. John loves to work with wood and likes to make everything. He is a talented shipwright with a great attention to detail.”
Just the traits you want when your boat is in for maintenance and repair — and exactly what you get from the skilled crew at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard.
