Club and Guesthouse Are Hits at Marina’s Open House

It might have been the charming wooden dinghy serving chilled shrimp and petite oysters on the half shell at The Club. Or it could have been the gorgeously decorated Guesthouse overlooking the scenic harbor. Most likely, it was the whole package of pleasing new amenities at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard that made our Open House such a hit on Saturday.

More than 400 people turned out at The Club @ The Boatyard to see what’s new at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard — and they were pleasantly surprised at all the changes.

“People were bowled over by The Guesthouse,” said marina Marketing Manager Amy Faeth. “People generally had no idea what we have to offer. They knew there was something here but they didn’t know what.”

Well, they found out at the marina’s New Member Open House on Feb. 27. Visitors were able to get ideas for hosting their own event in the versatile venue space, The Club @ The Boatyard, and tour the luxury guest suite, The Guesthouse @ The Boatyard, and the beautiful classroom space at The Maritime Academy upstairs.

Event planner Jacques Henry of JDH Events decorated several tables in The Club with elegant place settings for a wedding reception or other nice occasion, such as a company dinner or anniversary party.  He also set up more than 100 white chairs and an arbor in Skansie Brothers Park to show an ideal site for a harbor-side wedding next to The Club.

“What an amazing event,” said Danielle Taylor, hospitality manager at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard. “We estimate we had over 400 people over all and 135 new members sign up.” She added that the Open House also resulted in several nights of bookings at luxury The Guesthouse and three days of rentals in The Club.

Visitors at the Open House also got a glimpse of the beautiful new restrooms and showers soon to open at the boatyard. The tastefully decorated stone floor and tile men’s and women’s ADA restrooms are set to open in the next few weeks. More and more, Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard really is where you want to be.
