Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard is Open

Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard an Essential Business
Yard Remains Open During COVID-19 Outbreak
Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard has been classified an essential business on Gov. Jay Inslee’s list of business sectors exempted from closure.
The boatyard, with the area’s only marine haulout capability, is remaining open during the coronavirus outbreak, announced Ron Roark, managing member of Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard. It is exempt from the stay-at-home order due to the marine transportation services it supports, he said.
On March 23, then updated on April 1, the Washington state governor’s office released a long list of business sectors in which workers will be exempted from staying home. They include those in health care, emergency services, food and agriculture, energy, water and sewage treatment, transportation, information technology, hazardous materials, financial services, chemical, and defense-industrial sectors.

The boatyard is an essential operation under Transportation and Logistics on the governor’s list and provides support to maritime transportation systems and services on the water.
