Come and show your community spirit this Saturday by helping out with “Gigging Up the Harbor,” a morning of spring clean-up and beautification before summer events get under way in Gig Harbor. Bring your yard tools and meet at Skansie Brothers Park at 9 a.m. on May 21 for the spruce-up day sponsored by the Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance.
“Gigging Up the Harbor” Clean-up Day set for Downtown
The downtown beautification project will take place rain or shine, so dress appropriately and please BYOT — Bring Your Own Tools. Gloves, rakes, brooms, shovels, clippers and a spirit of community pride will all be greatly appreciated and will make the work pleasant and easy. After a morning of “Gigging up” and sprucing up the harbor, meet back at Skansie Brothers Park at noon for a volunteer appreciation lunch compliments of the Waterfront Alliance.
The clean-up comes just in time for the harbor’s premiere summer kick-off event, the Maritime Gig Festival, set for June 4-5 in Skansie Brothers Park. The weekend includes the popular Gig Fest “Yo-‘ho” Harbor Grand Parade through the downtown waterfront; an irresistible line-up of food offerings along Harborview Drive; a variety of vendors and fun activities for all ages in the park; boat tours on the extended public dock; gondola harbor tours with Gig Harbor Gondola; an exciting concert lineup; the “Wheels on the Water” classic car show, and the traditional blessing of the fishing fleet.
As we all know, many hands do make light work. So come pitch in with “Gigging Up the Harbor” and help the Waterfront Alliance get the downtown ready for Gig Harbor’s summer visitors. Thank you, Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance!
