JW @ the Boatyard: 2 Weeks into a Tasty 2017 Season

Fans of Gig Harbor’s most unique food truck had to dodge raindrops, but still managed to make their way to the season opening of the JW food trolley at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard, grabbing a bite to eat through breaks in the drizzly, Washington spring weather.

“The coolest part about last year was when the sun was out and the music was playing,” said JW co-owner Jamie Lindsey. “We’re really excited to have that summer weather again.”

Fortunately, the weather does not impact how delicious the food at JW @ the Boatyard is. The cod tacos, one of last year’s favorites, look to be a staple of the popular waterfront food trolley again in 2017. However, some changes on the menu are sure to make a run to top the tasty tacos as the favorite dish.

“So far this year, the fish and chips are the favorite, the cod tacos are second, and the lobster roll and burger could be tied at third,” Lindsey said.

Last year, the lobster roll had some mixed reviews as it was served warm. This year, JW is serving it cold, which is traditional to how they are served on the East Coast.

Season 2 Brings a Few Delicious Changes to Trolley Menu at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard

Customers at JW @ the Boatyard will enjoy some tasty changes to the menu this season at the food trolley at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard.

Martin Jeffers is excited about the start to his first summer managing JW @ the Boatyard, as well as some of the changes to the menu.

“We’ve had very positive responses about this year’s lobster roll. They love everything about it: the sauce, the presentation — it’s just going over well,” he said. “The clam strips are also very popular this year. People seem to like the presentation, and of course the taste.”

Another well-received change to the menu this season, and one that has already proven to be a contender for the most popular dish this year, is the addition of the JW Boatyard Cheeseburger as well as a Veggie Burger.

“It’s good to see that people are aware that there is a garden burger this year,” Jeffers said. “It seems to be going over very well with those who order it.”

Both Lindsey and Jeffers are excited to see many new and returning faces at the red food trolley this summer, and they anticipate feeding larger numbers of happy customers as the weather gets better.

JW @ the Boatyard, at the entrance to Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard, 3117 Harborview Dr., is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to dusk.
