Construction is under way for the newest feature going in at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard:  The Bar @ the Boatyard, a harbor-side watering hole sure to be a hit along the waterfront. It is Phase 2 of The Club @ the Boatyard and will be open to members of the The Club — which costs a whole dollar per year to join.

Bar @ the Boatyard

Construction has started on The Bar @ the Boatyard. The harbor-side bar will feature covered and open-air seating, plus space for live music.

The Bar @ the Boatyard is going in at the end of the building housing The Club and will feature covered and open-air seating with scenic views of the harbor and Skansie Brothers Park. Ground was broken last week as construction crews dug into asphalt in an area previously used for parking and storage. Workers from Ulsh Excavating of Fox Island were laying the groundwork for plumbing and electrical for the future harbor-front bar. (Crew is seen in photo at top with Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard General Manager Ron Roark, in gray shirt.)

An artist’s rendition shows inviting patio seating with scenic views of the harbor, coming soon at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard.

Bar @ the BoatyardTrenches and piles of rubble will soon be replaced by beautiful textured floor tile, comfortable patio seating, an inviting bar counter and attractive lighting. The Bar @ the Boatyard will operate along the lines of a bar at an Elks Club or the like, explained Roark.

Only this will be a lot easier and more convenient. Just stroll on down to the marina, join The Club ~ which includes The Bar @ the Boatyard ~ for a mere dollar and enjoy a beverage and a relaxing view.

Stay tuned for more updates as The Bar @ the Boatyard progresses.
