Maritime Gig 2018: Weekend Review in Photos

The biggest event of the year in Gig Harbor, the Maritime Gig Festival, never disappoints!

If you are familiar with the Gig Harbor area, you were either in the parade, or you probably know someone who was.

This year, there were many awesome parade entries, including creative costumes, clever chants, and wonderful music and dance performances.

Highlights this year included all of the pirate costumes, Harbor Wild Watch, and our friends, the Gig Harbor Dragons and their Chinese Dragon.

We took over 1,000 photos on Saturday. See which ones made the cut on our Facebook page in the Maritime Gig 2018 photo album!

Sunday saw the traditional Blessing of the Fleet. The public dock was crowded with onlookers, many with cameras to capture the event.

We were privileged to hitch a ride on a boat to get some great on-the-water shots of the blessing. We were even within reach of The Holy Super Soaker.

We wish the best for our local fishing fleet, and join in praying for their safety, as well as a bountiful year as they soon make the trek up to Alaska.

The Trolley @ the Boatyard was another highlight of the weekend, staying busy and serving up a record number of meals to new fans and returning customers.

“Our special Gig Fest menu of about nine items was very popular,” said Trolley managers Camber and Omar Morales, as they wrapped up their busy festival weekend on Sunday afternoon. “We served at least 700 guests and everyone loved their food.”

On Saturday alone, the popular Trolley @ the Boatyard tripled past sales tallied over entire Maritime Gig Festival weekends — “and that was just in one day,” emphasized the exhausted but exhilarated husband and wife team.

“Our crew and crew leader, Danielle Marcus were absolutely awesome,” said Camber. “They just blew our minds with how they stepped up to the plate.”

The most popular menu item proved to the be Trolley’s fantastic fish and chips, although the two different out-of-this world burgers and the more than 200 special Kopachuck Dogs sold were also in the running.

Camber and Omar shared a glowing customer review that put a cherry on top of their successful weekend. Carla A. wrote:

“The Trolley food is amazing! You have to have the Monte Cristo! The trolley
put a new spin on it and created a masterpiece of delicious food that
makes you think you’ve died and gone to heaven!!!”

A fantastic weekend, filled with fun and entertainment, all in our back yard. We love this city, and can’t wait for the rest of the downtown summer activities!

We hope to see you soon down here at the Boatyard!
