New Tires for Marine Travelift

New tires

It was time for new tires for our Travelift this week.

It wasn’t so much about how many miles on the old tires, but how much weight they have carried around the boatyard in the last eight years. Our behemoth 50-metric ton Marine Travelift carries up to 100,000 pounds of boat and is used several times a day here at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard. It last got new tires in 2008 and it was time for front replacements.

Brian from Les Schwab Tire Center positions the jack to lift the 50-metric ton Travelift for removing the old tire. Lift operator Mark Rybin looks on.

The front tires are the steering tires, explained Mark Rybin, long-time Travelift operator, and they take quite a load as the lift maneuvers boats around the yard.

Brian from Les Schwab Tire Center made a boatyard call and Rybin helped him lower the huge 49″ x 17″ tires onto their rims.
