Pier Into the Night

Club @ the Boatyard Hosts Pier Into the Night with Touch Tanks

Friday, Jan. 18

Have you ever wished you could see what lurks beneath the surface of the harbor? Well, you can do just that from the comfort of The Club @ the Boatyard during Harbor WildWatch’s next Pier Into the Night event.

Bring your whole family to The Club at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard on Friday, Jan. 18, for a fascinating look at underwater life in the harbor. If you haven’t been to one of these informative evenings put on by Gig Harbor’s own marine and environmental education organization, you are in for a treat.

Pier Into the NightThis kids-of-all-ages event also includes hands-on fun with Harbor WildWatch‘s wildly popular touch tanks, live-feed video by a night diver in the harbor and interpretive talks by marine biologists.

Come Pier Into Night at The Club @ the Boatyard ~ $5 Donation Requested

  • Touch tanks start at 6 p.m.
  • Diver talk at 6:30
  • Live dive at 6:45
  • Conclusion & touch tanks, 7:30-8:00

Come take an underwater journey of Gig Harbor Bay without getting wet — or needing special certification — through the Pier Into the Night experience.

While you stay warm and dry inside The Club, Harbor WildWatch divers are using an underwater video camera to live stream exactly what they are encountering below the surface. Staff biologists and trained volunteers will identify the plants and animals that appear on a large screen.

Pier Into the Night

Feather duster tube worms are a common sight on pier pilings in Gig Harbor.

Animals that divers have encountered at past events include:

  • Feather duster tube worms
  • Red Irish lord, sculpin, and gunnels
  • Red rock, kelp and graceful crabs
  • Stubby squid
  • Giant Pacific Octopus
  • And much more!

The Club @ the Boatyard is requesting a $5 donation at the door to be shared with Harbor WildWatch. Alcoholic beverages will not be allowed at this family-friendly event, but please feel free to bring your own snacks or dinner while you enjoy the evening.
