Sailboat Owner Thanks the Boatyard

Catalina 27 Owner Happy with ‘Fantastic Work’ by Yard Crew at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard

Boatyard Manager Hartwell Champagne received a note from customer Tom Barrett this week and we thought we’d share it with you:

Hi Hartwell,

Thanks again for the fantastic work you and your crew did on my boat.

When I left the yard on the 17th, I motored out of the harbor at idle and spent about a half hour to uncover sails and get the boat ready to do what she is designed to do, sail.  It took me a total of six hours and twenty minutes to sail to Port Orchard Marina. I think that is very good since it took me six hours to motor to your yard a couple of weeks earlier and the wind was light the whole time.

Also, I had a single-hand race on the 17th and finished it with a first place.  Again the winds were light, in fact, I averaged 1.2 knots over the course and beat a boat that was 10 feet longer.  I did have a little problem stopping when I returned to the slip, however.

Thanks again,

Tom Barrett, owner of a 1977 Catalina 27
