First Concert in the 2019 Lineup is June 25
The Summer Sounds at Skansie concert series gets under way on the Gig Harbor waterfront on Tuesday, June 25. First to take the stage in the eight-band lineup is Mark Hurwitz and Gin Creek, playing the blues from 6:30-8 p.m.
According to their Facebook page, Mark Hurwitz and Gin Creek is a two-time nominee for Best Band by the Washington Blues Society. The group plays a variety of blues styles as well as roots rock, New Orleans funk, soul and jazz — “all with a strong rhythmic feel that keeps the dance floor packed.”
The Seattle-based band averages over 50 shows a year, a tribute to their ability to entertain a variety of audiences in all kinds of venues, they say on their “Our Story” on Facebook. The band features rocking piano, sizzling saxophone and multiple dynamic lead singers.
The music starts at 6:30 p.m. in Skansie Brothers Park. Please note: No set up of unoccupied chairs or blankets on the lawn is allowed before 3 p.m. on concert Tuesdays. The City of Gig Harbor is asking for cooperation in keeping the park accessible to the public on concert days.
