‘Temptress’ Calls at Boatyard

bottom paint and zincs

Temptress, all wood and full of old-time character, came calling at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard this week.

The 35-foot sailboat, with an Old World look worthy of a supporting role in “Pirates of the Caribbean,” is in the yard for new bottom paint and zincs, said boatyard Service Manager Chris Hawke. He wasn’t quite sure if the full-keel cutter was custom-built or had an actual builder, but the old gal is pretty cool-looking either way.

Temptress is adorned fore and aft with hand-carved mermaids, hair flowing, on her port and starboard sides. Custom-carved banners showcase her name and port of call on her all-wood transom.

Temptress’ owner also had her surveyed while she was hauled-out at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard.
