The Club @ The Boatyard Sparkles with Parties

The Club @ The Boatyard has been aglow with holiday parties this Christmas season — and there are still dates available for your own dazzling event at this popular downtown venue.

The Club at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard was booked for a viewing party during the annual Lighted Boat Parade sponsored by the Gig Harbor Yacht Club on Dec. 12, and a few days before that the venue housed a holiday party for volunteers of Communities in Schools of Peninsula.

The waterfront venue provided a cozy space for viewing the festively lighted boats as they circled the harbor on Saturday evening.  Warm ceiling heaters and glowing fireplaces kept the space comfortable and inviting, as did tables of appetizers and beverages of holiday cheer.

Communities in Schools, a drop-out prevention organization serving the Peninsula School District, recognized its volunteers, board members and staff at a catered party at The Club @ The Boatyard on Dec. 10. About 140 volunteers serve the after-school program for students K-12 who are struggling with reading and math, said Colleen Speer, executive director. She heard about The Club from board members who attended a previous event at the new venue at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard and was eager to try it.

“I decided to have (the party) there because I am always looking for new venues — and I like the view,” she said, adding it was a “very positive experience.  I liked the venue. It was a non-traditional setting and people enjoyed it.”

She also had praise for Danielle Taylor, manager of The Club @ The Boatyard and hospitality manager at Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard.

“Danielle is very nice to work with,” Speer said. “She gave me advice and also gave me the name of an event planner she works with, Jacques Henry,  who was an amazing help.”
