Boo! It’s Almost Trick-or-Treat Time

Get ready, all you ghosts, ghouls, princesses, and superheroes. The Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance will be holding its annual “Trick or Treat in the Harbor” on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31, from 3-6 p.m.

Of course, Gig Harbor Marina & Boatyard will be right in the thick of the fun with our annual “boatload of treats.” Weather permitting, we’ll be handing out candy from our wooden dinghy on the sidewalk; or if it’s raining, we’ll be down under the awning at The Trolley @ the Boatyard.

The Waterfront Alliance is proud to present this annual and very popular-for-all-ages event along the downtown business district.

“Many of the downtown waterfront businesses, including Finholm, will be open and have candy available for trick or treaters,” according to Mary DesMarais, executive director of the Alliance. “Their generosity towards our local community is something very special, especially when you consider they’ve been doing this for so many years.”

trick or treatAs always, in order to provide a safe and fun area for trick or treating, Harborview Drive will be closed from Soundview Drive to Rosedale Street, and Pioneer Way closed from Harborview Drive to Tarabochia Street from 2 to 6 p.m.

Many other activities will be taking place downtown to go along with the trick-or-treating:

  • At the Skansie House, Harbor WildWatch will be offering a “Spooky Skulls Tour.”
  • Nearby, kids will find Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One on Harborview Drive for a close-up look and an opportunity to meet emergency responders.
  • The Gig Harbor Church of the Nazarene will offer its “Trunk or Treat and Carnival” event.
